BOLIVIA: Another push for coca industrialisation

For the fifth time since 2008, Bolivia’s ruling left-wing Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) has launched an effort to industrialise coca production. On 29 June President Luis Arce announced the creation of a state-owned company, Kokabol, which he said would “develop an industry around the basic chemistry of the coca leaf, and produce, process, transform, and commercialise products that derive from it”.
