In brief: Inflation rises in Brazil

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest figures on the consumer price index (IPCA), which show that monthly inflation stood at 0.67% in June, bringing the annual figure to 11.89%. The figures for June are up from a monthly rate of 0.47% and annual rates of 11.73% in May. Inflation remains far above the target set by Brazil’s central bank (BCB) of 3.5% +/- 1.5%.
