MEXICO: Much left unsaid as López Obrador meets Biden

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador travelled to the US on 11 July to meet US President Joe Biden. The trip provided a chance to patch up bilateral relations following López Obrador’s well-documented boycott of the US-hosted Summit of the Americas (SoA) last month. The two presidents released a joint statement after the meeting. However, despite the length of López Obrador’s address - which lasted over 30 minutes - what was omitted from the statement proved most telling.
