Latin American Regional Report: Mexico looks at the consequences of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s controversial decision to boycott the Summit of the Americas (SoA), which took place from 6-10 June in Los Angeles, California. Given that Biden was planning to unveil a major regional migration initiative at the SoA, the absence of the president of a key transit country for migrants and main partner of the US in tackling migration threatened to derail one of the centrepieces of the already somewhat overshadowed Summit.
