In brief: Inflation slows in Brazil

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest inflation forecast, predicting monthly inflation in July of 0.13% and annual inflation of 11.39%. This would represent a reduction of 0.56 percentage points on the monthly rate recorded in June (0.69%), and a reduction of 0.65 percentage points on June’s annual rate (12.04%). The largest predicted monthly price increases were in the categories of clothing (+1.39%) and food and drink (+1.16%), while prices fell for transport (-1.08%), housing (-0.78%), and communications (-0.05%).
