VENEZUELA: Communists denounce crackdown
The Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) has accused the government led by President Nicolás Maduro of conducting an escalating crackdown on its activists. In a statement on 23 July, the party claimed that the ruling Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV) is prosecuting an “anti-communist campaign”, and it blamed militias linked to the PSUV for an attack on a PCV rally.
