In brief: Nicaragua to begin exporting beef to Iran

* Nicaragua’s government led by President Daniel Ortega has announced the signing of an agreement to export beef to Iran. Beef is one of Nicaragua’s main exports, with sales worth US$304m in the first five months of 2022, third only to gold (US$410m) and coffee (US$398m), according to statistics from Nicaragua’s export processing agency (Cetrex).
