Once again, the net appears to be closing in on Peru’s President Pedro Castillo. Police raided the presidential palace on 9 August, seeking to execute an arrest warrant for Castillo’s sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredes. Paredes was not found and was briefly categorised as a fugitive from justice, before she handed herself in to the authorities the following day. The raid came shortly after yet another cabinet reshuffle by Castillo, who appears to be battling a growing sense of despair among his ministers.
