MEXICO | López Obrador goes after breweries. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said this week that companies will no longer be permitted to produce beer in the country’s northern states. If breweries wanted to continue operating in Mexico, the president said, they should do so in the southeast of the country, where the Grijalva, Usumacinta, and Papaloapan rivers flow, rather than in the arid north.
