COLOMBIA: Petro moves to unpick Duque’s legacy on Venezuela and ELN

Gustavo Petro has wasted little time since he was inaugurated as Colombia’s first left-wing president on 7 August. With his government having presented its much-awaited tax reform bill the day after he took office [WR-22-32], Petro has now turned his attention to two other thorny issues – peace negotiations with the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) guerrilla group, and the normalisation of relations with President Nicolás Maduro’s government in Venezuela.
