*Panama’s 71-member unicameral assembly has approved the budget for the Panama Canal for fiscal year (FY) 2023 (from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023) which forecasts revenue of US$4.65bn and direct contributions to state coffers of a record US$2.5bn. Ricaurte Vásquez Morales said that the ACP forecasts that income from tolls for FY 2023 will total US$3.38bn while other income from maritime services will total US$1.17bn. He said that over the past 21 years, the ACP had provided US$20.72bn to state coffers and for the FY2022 budget the ACP was forecast to provide US$2.5bn to the state.
