* Brazil’s economy ministry has announced that Brazil’s trade surplus in September stood at US$3.99bn, representing a 9.3% year-on-year decline. This is the lowest trade surplus value in eight months. Brazil’s exports in September reached US$28.95bn, up 18.8% year-on-year. Yet, imports totalled US$24.95bn, up 24.9% on September 2021. In the first nine months of 2022 Brazil’s accumulated trade surplus totalled US$47.86bn, down 15.6% year-on-year. Total exports in the first nine months were US$253.84bn while total imports were US$205.97bn. The economy ministry highlighted that, although Brazil’s exports to the European Union and Argentina in the last nine months posted respective year-on-year increases of 37.5% and 35.3% (reaching US$38.60bn and US$11.89bn), sales to China fell 3.6% (to US$70.96bn).
