In brief: Argentina’s industry and construction sectors post annual growth
*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest figures on industrial manufacturing and construction, which show that both sectors grew year-on-year in August 2022 but posted little or negative growth in monthly terms. The industrial manufacturing index was up 7.6% in August 2022 compared with August 2021, with the strongest performing areas in annual terms being automobiles & transport (up 23.2%) and textiles, clothing, leather & footwear (up 12.9%). However, in monthly terms, industrial manufacturing was up just 0.4% in August 2022. Meanwhile, construction was up 7.3% in August 2022 compared with August 2021 but contracted 2.1% in monthly terms.
