* Peru’s economy and finance minister,
Kurt Burneo, has announced that the government has lowered its GDP growth forecast for 2022 to between 2.7% and 3%, down from its August forecast of 3.3% growth. However, Burneo insisted that Peru is not facing a recession.
“I wouldn’t say that we’re in an economic crisis,” he said.
“The economy is still growing – slowly, but it’s still growing”. He attributed the lowered forecast to global economic headwinds – particularly mounting inflation, which in October reached an annual rate of 8.64% in Peru.
