inflation should not be used as an excuse for not increasing the minimum wage”. He made his comments in his daily press conference where he said that leading private sector lobby, Coparmex, had proposed a 15% increase and
“we are looking at this”. Mexico’s inflation slowed in the first half of October to 8.53%, a slight decrease on the annual inflation of 8.64% registered in the previous two weeks. López Obrador said that he expected Mexico’s national minimum salary commission (Conasami) a decision on the new wage increase in December.
