In brief: Mexico’s central bank raises interest rates again

* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has raised its benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points to 10% - its twelfth consecutive rate hike. This comes despite a continued slowdown in inflation in recent weeks. Banxico noted continued inflationary pressures generated by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and war in Ukraine. The central bank does not expect inflation to return to target levels of 3% until the third quarter of 2024.
