GUATEMALA: ‘Electoral’ budget approved
Guatemala’s 160-member unicameral legislature has approved the biggest budget in the country’s history. Amid errors and anomalies flagged up by local think tank Instituto Centroamericano de Estudios Fiscales (Icefi), the approved budget for 2023 has drawn major concerns from civil society groups who fear that it will facilitate corruption ahead of the June 2023 general election.
