In brief: Mexico’s Q3 GDP growth revised down

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures on quarterly GDP growth, showing GDP grew by 0.9% in the third quarter of 2022, down from a preliminary estimate of 1%. In quarterly terms, economic activity was up 2% in the primary sector (agriculture), 1.1% in the tertiary sector (services), and 0.6% in the secondary sector (manufacturing). In year-on-year terms and with seasonally adjusted figures, GDP grew 4.3% in real terms, with increases of 4.5% in the tertiary sector, 3.7% in the secondary sector, and 3.2% in the primary sector. In the first nine months of the year and with seasonally adjusted figures, Inegi states that GDP grew 2.8% in yearly terms. Inegi has also released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE), showing that economic activity increased by 0.7% in September 2022 compared to the previous month and by 5.1% in yearly terms.
