In brief: Mexico registers trade deficit in October

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that the country had a trade deficit of US$2.01bn in October 2022, compared to a deficit of US$2.79bn in the same month 2021 and US$895m in September 2022. Exports in October 2022 totalled US$49.28bn, a yearly increase of 17.7%. This was made up of US$46.38bn in non-oil exports (up 18.5% year-on-year) and US$2.89bn in oil exports (up 6.9% year-on-year). Imports totalled US$51.29bn, an annual increase of 14.8%, with non-oil imports up 15% and oil imports up 13.5%. According to Inegi, Mexico registered a trade deficit of US$27.31bn in the first ten months of 2022.
