*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest employment figures, showing that unemployment stood at 8.3% in the rolling quarter ending in October. This is the lowest unemployment rate for the quarter in Brazil since 2014. The rate represents a decline of 0.8 percentage points on the preceding rolling quarter (May-July), and of 3.8 percentage points year-on-year. Ibge research coordinator
Adriana Beringuy commented that this trend of job creation growth began in the “
second half of 2021”, adding that
“as we approach the last two months of the year – a period in which job creation has historically been higher – it continues”.
