*Mexico’s senate has approved a reform to the federal labour law to increase the minimum number of days of holiday that workers receive per year. With 116 votes in favour, the 128-seat senate approved the reform to allow those in their first year of work to have 12 days of holiday a year, up from six days. This allowance will be eligible to increase by two days per year to a limit of 20 days of leave a year for those who have worked for six years. After this point, holiday can increase by two days for every five years of service, until reaching 32 days. The reform will enter into force from 1 January 2023, after being published in the official gazette (DOF).
