* Ecuador’s state oil company, Petroecuador, has received licences from the environment ministry to carry out a range of activities aimed at boosting production at its Auca (Block 61) and Pacoa (Block 1) oilfields. At the Auca oilfield (Orellana province), Petroecuador has been authorised to drill 420 new wells and build 26 new drilling platforms, nine stations, and one substation. The company also received permission to expand 39 platforms, stations, and substations. At the Pacoa oilfield (Santa Elena), Petroecuador received licences to drill 10 new wells and build six new platforms and an access road.
