Santiago Guarderas tweeted that the metro would connect families
“more quickly and safely”. Construction began on the metro in 2012. It was initially scheduled to be completed in 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The metro will be operated by EOMMT S.A.S. a consortium made up of Metro de Medellín (Colombia) and France-based public transport operator Transdev.
