In brief: Brazil’s BNDES to fund new renewable energy plants

* Brazil’s state-owned development bank (BNDES) has approved loans totalling R$3.5bn (US$669.5m) for the construction of two wind farms and a solar plant in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais. According to a BNDES press release, the initial funding will enable R$10.6bn in total investments in the energy plants, which will have a combined capacity of 1.5GW.
