In brief: Year-end inflation in Chile remains high

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which show monthly inflation in December 2022 was 0.3%, with annual inflation closing the year at 12.8%. The INE highlighted monthly price rises in food & non-alcoholic drinks (+1.1%) and recreation & culture (+2.1%). However, it noted a monthly decrease in the price of transport (-0.5%). Although annual inflation was below the 13.3% registered in November 2022, it remains far above the 3% target set by Chile’s central bank (BCCh).
