MEXICO: Title 42 evades lifting - again

An attempt to lift the controversial US federal order Title 42 was thwarted for the second time on 19 December. The measure, which allows US authorities to rapidly expel migrants of certain nationalities to Mexico, was scheduled to be lifted on 21 December. However, the US supreme court blocked the lifting at the last minute. The measure is now expected to remain in place until at least June while the legal dispute plays out. Additionally, its usage will be extended to migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua and Haiti, significantly expanding its application.
