In brief: Argentina’s 2022 fiscal deficit meets IMF target

* Argentina’s economy ministry has announced that the country posted a primary fiscal deficit of Ar$502.12bn (US$2.74bn) in December 2022, compared with Ar$496.34bn in December 2021 and Ar$227.83bn in November 2022. According to the economy ministry, this brings the fiscal deficit for 2022 to Ar$1.96trn or 2.4% of GDP. This is in line with the target of 2.5% of GDP, as agreed under Argentina’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
