In brief: Mexico’s inflation picks up

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (INPC), which shows that prices rose 0.46% in the first two weeks of January as compared to the previous two weeks. This brings annual inflation to 7.94%. Core inflation, which leaves out certain volatile food and energy prices, rose 0.44% in the first two weeks of January compared with the previous two weeks, bringing the annual rate to 8.45%. Mexico closed 2022 with 7.82% annual inflation.
