ECUADOR: Gov’t loses referendum amid Correísta comeback

On 6 February, preliminary results from Ecuador’s national electoral council (CNE) indicated that citizens had roundly rejected eight proposals for constitutional reform from President Guillermo Lasso’s government, which were included in a referendum during the 5 February local elections that boosted the leftist Revolución Ciudadana (RC), the party of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017).
