In brief: Argentina’s gov’t boosts pensions

*Argentina’s Economy Minister Sergio Massa has announced an increase in pensions, starting from March. Massa made the announcement alongside Fernanda Raverta, head of the national social security administration (Anses), saying the increase would benefit over 17m people. The increase will be of 17.04% and an additional bonus will be paid to those who receive up to two minimum salaries for the months of March, April and May. Massa said this will mean that no pension will be below Ar$73,000 (US$383) a month. Those who receive up to one minimum salary will receive a Ar$15,000 increase, which will decrease to Ar$5,000 for those who receive up to two minimum salaries.
