DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Mejí­a narrows gap, but will it suffice?

In only two months President Hipólito Mejí­a has moved up in the opinion polls from third to second place. With less than a month to go to voting day (16 May) the question is if this rise from behind will suffice to overtake frontrunner Leonel Fernández, who right now still enjoys enough support for a first-round victory. Some local analysts suspect that Mejí­a's followers are already working on a sinister `Plan B' in case this does not happen.
