HAITI: More efforts to chart path towards elections

The Organization of American States (OAS) has passed a resolution proposing the creation of a working group of member states by 22 February to serve as a mechanism for regular OAS meetings on the situation in Haiti, with the aim of facilitating support for free, fair, and credible elections there. This came four days after Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry installed a three-member high transition council (HCT), tasked with ensuring conditions are in place for elections – in line with a document signed late last year [WR-23-01].
