MEXICO: Maras in Mexico

The crackdowns that some Central American governments are waging on street gangs are potentially driving gang-related crime in Mexico. This is according to an investigation published on 25 January by the Associated Press (AP) which documented cases of public transport drivers in southern Mexico – and Chiapas state in particular – who have fallen victim to extortion from such gangs.
