MEXICO: Corruption looms large

Berlin-based NGO Transparency International (TI) released its 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) on 31 January. Mexico failed to improve its score for the third consecutive year, indicating that efforts to tackle corruption and impunity remain inadequate despite claims from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that his government’s main objective is to “end” corruption.
