* Italian oil company Eni has announced a new oil discovery on the Yatzil exploration prospect in Block 7, in the waters of Cuenca Salina in the Sureste Basin off the coast of Mexico. According to preliminary estimates, the new finding may contain around 200m barrels of oil in place. Eni is the operator of Block 7 with a 45% stake, while British oil and gas producer Capricorn holds a 30% stake and Mexico’s Citla Energy has the remaining 25%. The Yatzil-1 EXP well is the eighth successful well drilled by Eni in the Sureste Basin.
