In brief: Mexico’s economic activity grows in January

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) which show economic activity grew by 0.6% in January compared to the previous month. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, economic activity in the primary sector (agriculture) fell by 5.7%, while the tertiary (services) sector grew by 1.2%. The secondary sector (industry) was unchanging. In year-on-year terms, economic activity increased by 3.6% in January, with economic activity up by 4.5% in the tertiary sector, by 2.5% in the secondary sector, and by 0.9% in the primary sector.
