COSTA RICA: Farmers stage protests over gov’t policies

On 29 March hundreds of agricultural producers took to the streets in Costa Rica’s capital, San José, demanding better policies from the centre-right government led by President Rodrigo Chaves to protect food security and the sector, and against his push for Costa Rica to join the Pacific Alliance trade bloc (comprising Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru).
