* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has published new data for its monthly index of industrial activity (Imai) showing that industrial production dropped by 0.9% in monthly terms in March. Activity in the mining sector was down 3.5% while activity in manufacturing also decreased by 1.1%. Utilities (electricity generation and transmission, provision of water and gas) increased by 0.9% and construction was up by 1.3%. In seasonally adjusted annual terms, industrial production rose by 1.5% in March 2023 compared with March 2022, with utilities up 3.7%, mining up 2.5%, construction increasing by 2% and manufacturing by 0.8%.
