MEXICO: Army faces more spying allegations

Mexico’s armed forces are once again the focus of scrutiny over alleged spying activity. The most recent allegations, made as part of an investigation published by the New York Times on 22 May, concern the defence ministry (Sedena)’s alleged use of the sophisticated spyware Pegasus. In this way, the allegations are similar to previous claims [WR-22-40]. However, the alleged victim of the most recent accusation is very different.
