* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has announced that the country’s industrial production declined by 0.6% in April compared with March, in seasonally adjusted terms. In year-on-year terms, industrial production declined by 2.7%. The drop in output was driven by monthly decreases in the production of food products (-3.2%), machinery and equipment (-9.9%), and vehicles and trailers (-4.6%). The decline in April followed monthly growth in industrial production of 1.1%
in March and a decrease of 0.2% in February.
