* Ecuador’s central bank (BCE) has announced that the country’s economy grew by 3.3% in the second quarter of 2023, compared with the same quarter of last year. The BCE attributed this growth to a 6.4% increase in government spending, a 4.3% rise in household consumption, and a 3.8% rise in gross fixed capital formation. In quarterly terms, the economy grew by 2.5% compared with Q1 2023, due to a 7.6% increase in gross fixed capital formation, a 3.5% increase in government spending, a 3.3% increase in exports, and a 2.5% increase in household consumption.
