*Costa Rica’s finance ministry has announced that it has awarded a US$23.4m contract to a consortium PBSCR–WEBBFONTAINE, (which includes the United Arab Emirates-based Webb Fontaine) to modernise Costa Rica’s customs administration, a process which will last approximately three years. Finance Minister Nogui Acosta said in a statement that this was in line with the government’s strategy ‘Hacienda Digital’ (Fiscal Modernisation), which aims to modernise and digitalise the finance ministry in order to make tax and customs services and payments easier, reduce tax evasion, improve budget efficiency and debt management.
