BRAZIL: Indigenous protesters clash with police over floodgate closure
On 8 October two members of the Xokleng indigenous community were injured in a clash with the military police of Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil, during a protest over the authorities’ decision to close the floodgates of the Barragem Norte, a deactivated dam located in the Xokleng’s demarcated indigenous territory.
