In brief: Inflation falls in Colombia

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has announced that monthly inflation in September was 0.54%, bringing the annual inflation rate to 10.99%. This was down from a monthly rate of 0.70% in August, when annual inflation was 11.43%. According to Dane, monthly inflation in September was driven principally by rising prices for food & non-alcoholic drinks (+0.74%) and housing, water, electricity & gas (+0.40%). Meanwhile, the steepest monthly price rises were in the categories of education (+1.79%) and alcoholic drinks & tobacco (+0.82%).
