In brief: Mexican states collaborate to mitigate hurricane damage

* Mexico’s navy ministry (Semar) has announced its collaboration with authorities in states affected by Hurricane Lidia and Tropical Storm Max, which made landfall on 10 and 9 October respectively, focusing on repairing road infrastructure and delivering aid to affected areas. The state governments of Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero plan to enhance welfare programmes and continue implementing emergency response plans, overseen by the national civil protection commission (CNPC). Federal officials met with state governors in each of the affected states to identify urgent actions, reaffirming their commitment to aid delivery and infrastructure repair. They stressed the importance of intergovernmental coordination such as the prevention and preparation actions that were implemented to mitigate risks.
