In brief: Colombia raises minimum wage

*Colombia’s government led by President Gustavo Petro has announced a 12.06% rise in the country’s minimum wage, taking it to Col$1.3m (US$336) per month. The rise comes as the country continues to face high inflation, which came in at 10.15% in annual terms in November. In a press conference with President Petro, Labour Minister Gloria Inés Ramírez, said the increase for 2024 had not been agreed with the private sector despite ten bilateral meetings between the government, business leaders and unions.
