MEXICO: MC names (another) presidential candidate

A third candidate has once again entered Mexico’s 2024 presidential race. On 9 January the leftist opposition Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) announced that federal deputy Jorge Álvarez Máynez would be its presidential candidate in June’s elections. This comes after the MC was left without a candidate following the withdrawal of the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, 10 days after launching his pre-campaign [WR-23-49].
