BRAZIL: Lula appoints new minister to key post

Ricardo Lewandowski, who sat on the supreme court (STF) from 2006-2023, was confirmed as Brazil’s next minister for justice & public security on 11 January. Lewandowski will replace outgoing minister Flávio Dino, who is due to assume a seat on the STF in February, and will oversee the various initiatives launched by Dino last year to tackle organised crime.
