MEXICO: López Obrador outlines reform drive

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is preparing a bumper reform package to present to congress next month. The package will contain both constitutional and legal reform initiatives looking to overhaul the pension system, the judiciary, and the electoral system, among other things. The reforms are the latest indication of the legacy that López Obrador is intending to leave after his term concludes on 30 September, as well as his determination to avoid becoming a lame-duck president as his administration draws to a close.
