MEXICO | Strong economic growth. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador predicted on 12 January that the Mexican economy would grow by 3.5% in 2024. Speaking during his daily morning press conference, López Obrador said that this would deliver an average GDP expansion of 1.3% for his six-year term, in spite of an anomalous heavy contraction of 8.8% in 2020 as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which he said would mark a considerable feat.
